Jason Donovan, who famously played Joseph in the early ’90s London Palladium staging of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, will return to the musical at the very same venue, but now in a different role. The Australian actor will play Pharaoh in the upcoming revival of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical.

As previously reported, Olivier winner Sheridan Smith will play the Narrator in the West End revival from director Laurence Connor. The 11-week engagement will begin June 27 and officially open July 11.

In addition to Joseph, Donovan has appeared onstage in The Rocky Horror Show, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Sweeney Todd, and Priscilla Queen of the Desert. As a recording artist, his albums include his debut Ten Good Reasons and 2012's Sign of Your Love.

Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
