Tony winner Jane Krakowski is set to star as Emily Dickinson's mother in a new comedy about the life of the 19th century poet, according to The Wrap. The new series from Apple is titled Dickinson and will star Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit, Pitch Perfect 2 & 3) as the title character.

Emily Dickinson (1830–1886) was a poet from Amherst, Massachusetts, whose poetry is considered among the most studied and celebrated in the American literary canon. Her life was the subject of the 2016 film A Quiet Passion, starring Cynthia Nixon, as well as a number of books and films.

Dickinson, according to The Wrap, will be a comedic look at the ways in which the constraints of society, gender, and family influenced the writer.

Krakowski is currently wrapping up the fourth and final season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which will air in 2019. She was last seen on Broadway as Ilona Ritter in the 2016 revival of She Loves Me, prior to which she was seen in Nine, Once Upon a Mattress, Tartuffe, and Grand Hotel, among others.
