Israeli pop star Shiri Maimon makes her Broadway debut beginning September 21 in the Tony-winning revival of Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre. Maimon, who steps into the role of Roxie Hart, is scheduled to stay with the production through October 5.

Maimon rose to fame as the runner-up in the TV show Kokhav Nolad and represented Israel in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. She was also one of the judges on the first three seasons of The X Factor Israel.

“Choosing me to play a leading role in Chicago on Broadway is proof that dreams are meant to be fulfilled,” Maimon said in an earlier statement. “I'm proud to bring an Israeli presence to Broadway. This is an incredible opportunity for me... and it will be a challenging and exciting time in my life.”

The current Broadway company of Chicago includes Michelle DeJean as Roxie Hart, John O’Hurley as Billy Flynn, Evan Harrington as Amos Hart, Raena White as Matron “Mama” Morton, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine. Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. will star as Billy Flynn beginning October 6.
