Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s twist on beloved fairy tales is the latest musical set to take the stage at the amphitheatre over the summer, following last year’s Annie (directed by Michael Arden) and such previous titles as A Chorus Line, Hair, Rent, Les Misérables, and Hairspray.
As previously reported, Tony winner Hugh Jackman will also play the Bowl this summer, bringing his tour The Man. The Music. The Show July 19 and 20.
Additional highlights of the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s 98th season at the Hollywood Bowl include Gustavo Dudamel conducting Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet suite, featuring LA Dance Project and choreography by Benjamin Millepied; an opening gala with recent Jesus Christ Superstar Emmy winner John Legend; and Pablo Ferrández making his Bowl debut with Dvořák’s Cello Concerto.
Additionally, the lineup includes live orchestra screenings of An American in Paris, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and the annual The Sound of Music sing-a-long.
