Yellow Sound Label will release an original Broadway cast album of the 2017 Tony-nominated play Indecent, preserving Lisa Gutkin and Aaron Halva's original score along with their arrangements of several songs from the period.

The recording, which will see a physical and digital release January 25, will feature instrumental and vocal performances from original cast members Mimi Lieber, Katrina Lenk (The Band's Visit), Max Gordon Moore, Tom Nelis, Steven Rattazzi, Richard Topol, Adina Verson, Matt Darriau, Gutkin, and Halva. The cast recording will be available on Amazon, iTunes, and Apple Music.

Though it is still rare for a play to receive a Broadway cast album, Indecent's recording follows several recent album releases of music written for stage plays, including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Roundabout Theatre Company's 2017 production of The Price. These albums join classic releases from the original Broadway productions of Waiting for Godot and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, both of which preserved the cast performing the work in its entirety; and Death of a Salesman and Rashomon, which both preserved their productions' scores.

Written by Pulitzer-winning playwright Paula Vogel and created by Vogel and Tony-winning director Rebecca Taichman, Indecent centers on the true story behind Sholem Asch’s 1906 Yiddish queer- and religious-themed play God of Vengeance, its controversial 1923 Broadway premiere, and the irrepressible nature of the art it inspired.

The play premiered on Broadway in April 2017 following productions at Yale Repertory Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, and Off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre, winning 2017 Tony Awards for Taichman's direction and Christopher Akerlind's lighting design. The Broadway production was also filmed for broadcast on PBS stations and streaming on BroadwayHD.
