The Cats movie may have recruited another Jellicle. Idris Elba is in talks to join the upcoming film adaptation of the iconic musical. No word yet on who the Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee would play, though Deadline speculates he's been tapped to take on the role of Macavity, the elusive Mystery Cat who kidnaps Old Deuteronomy.

Elba would join a roster that includes the previously reported Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Corden, Ian McKellen, Laurie Davidson, and Mette Towley.
The Tom Hooper-directed film from Universal/Working Title is expected to arrive in movie theatres December 20, 2019. Andrew Lloyd Webber is reportedly at work on composing new songs to help bring T.S. Eliot's fantastical feline realm to the screen.
Elba, who can be seen in BBC's Luther (which earned him a Golden Globe Award), is also known for his performances in the Marvel franchise (playing Heimdall), Beasts of No Nation, Star Trek: Beyond, and Mendela: Long Walk to Freedom.
