Tony-winning actor Hugh Jackman and Tony-winning producer Sonia Friedman are part of the annual Time 100 list of the most influential people of 2018.
The annual list, according to Time, “is a designation of individuals whose time, in our opinion, is now.”
Jackman is featured in the Artists section, which also includes Nicole Kidman and Sterling K. Brown, among others. Anne Hathaway, who co-starred opposite Jackman in the film version of LesMisérables, writes, “In other words, he is so likable, sometimes we overlook that he is among the finest, most committed actors of his generation. All that, and I have personally discovered him to be genuinely, truly, deeply egoless.”
Friedman, whose newest Broadway productions include Mean Girls, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and Travesties, is featured in the Titans section, which also includes Oprah Winfrey. About Friedman, Tony winner and talk-show host James Corden writes, “She understands people, what makes them tick. She has an ability to cut through. As we spend more time on great digital experiences— endlessly absorbing content on various screens—we will start to crave great live experiences too. There is no one better to deliver them than Sonia Friedman.” Friedman was among the producers of One Man, Two Guvnors, for which Corden won his Tony.
The new jukebox musical featuring the songs of Huey Lewis and the News follows a Chicagoan whose failed band leads to him returning to corporate America.
