Fans of Hamilton can now interact with the Tony- and Pulitzer-winning musical even more immediately with the official Hamilton app, released August 11 for iOS and Android phones.
The app offers various services and resources pertaining to the hit musical, as well as features designed to incorporate Hamilton into everyday digital communication.
“We are constantly exploring ways to allow more people to experience Hamilton in its many forms,” said producer Jeffrey Seller in a statement. “This mobile app is designed to do just that—provide exciting new ways for fans to interact with and gain access to the musical they love.”
The #Ham4All lottery, which offers the chance to win ten-dollar tickets to day-of performances, will accept entries via the app beginning August 11 for the Los Angeles tour engagement; the New York and Chicago lotteries will follow August 22 and August 29, respectively. (Entries will still be accepted online at HamiltonBroadway.com/lottery).
The app additionally serves as a hub for Hamilton editorial content and merchandise—including souvenirs, exclusive items, and streamable copies of the Original Broadway Cast Recording and The Hamilton Mixtape.
Fans will be able to interact with each other using custom stickers and Hamilton-themed emoji, featuring art created by users. Artists will be able to submit their works for the chance to be featured on the app. Another feature—the “#HamCam”—offers filters for personalized photos.
Additional elements, including augmented reality, interactive karaoke, and exclusive ticket access, will be rolled out over the year.
Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda teased that there’s a million things this app hasn’t done (yet), saying, “We are setting the stage, but it’s just the opening number. There is a lot more to this app that’s on the way, and I’m very excited to share it all with our fans in the coming months. Get ready for what’s next!”
The app is now available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. For more information, visit HamiltonBroadway.com/app.
