Hamilton: The Exhibition celebrates its world premiere April 27 in Chicago (where the Tony-winning musical continues to play a sit-down engagement).

Producer Jeffrey Seller is behind the exhibit with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, set designer David Korins (who serves as creative director), Yale professor and historian Joanne Freeman, and Harvard’s Annette Gordon-Reed. Seller calls the project one of the most ambitious of his career.

He previously explained, “As we continued to develop the experience over the last three months, we were presented with both exciting new opportunities and unique challenges, the combination of which have led us to postpone the opening. In short, we need a little more time to get this right.”

The immersive installation launches in the spring after initially slated to open in November of last year.

The freestanding exhibit, presented with Imagine Exhibitions, Inc., features an audio tour narrated by Miranda (with original co-stars Phillipa Soo and Christopher Jackson) and utilizes immersive displays to provide a deeper context to the historical figure beyond what is discussed in the musical, including explorations of his time as a trader in St. Croix and what life was like in 18th century Manhattan.

Following the Chicago launch, the exhibition will tour the United States.
