Grosses Grosses Analysis: Waitress Leaps Ahead as Sara Bareilles and Jason Mraz Take Over the Diner Bareilles’ musical broke two separate house records in the week ending January 28.

Sara Bareilles is giving her musical its just deserts (or, desserts). Waitress walked away the week ending January 28 with a total gross of $1,626,478, landing it in the top five highest-grossing shows of the week.

The singer-songwriter, who recently returned to the stage to play Jenna in her musical, plays a limited engagement through March 11. Starring alongside her is Grammy winner Jason Mraz as Dr. Pomatter through February 11.

The seven-figure gross marks a new house record at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Additionally, the January 27 evening performance grossed $229,385—the highest gross for a single performance at the theatre.

Joining Waitress at the top of the boards were usual suspects Hamilton (in its fifth consecutive week breaking $3 million), Springsteen on Broadway, The Lion King, and Dear Evan Hansen.
