Jason Mraz began his limited engagement as Dr. Pomatter in the Broadway production of Waitress November 3, bringing the Sara Bareilles musical a noticeable boost after his first weekend of performances.

The production grossed $900,167—up over $172,000 from the previous week. Expect the number to inch closer to the $1 million mark as the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter plays a full eight performances a week.

Meanwhile, the new Steve Martin comedy Meteor Shower started preview performances at the Booth Theatre to a strong start, grossing 104.96 percent of its potential and surpassing its potential capacity.

The Lion King rang in its 20th anniversary with a special performance November 5, meaning grosses were only reported for seven performances (instead of the standard eight). Still, the musical was the fourth-highest grossing show of the week at $1,645,163 (less than a percent off from its potential).
