Dear Evan Hansen, the 2017 Tony winner for Best Musical, broke two records for the week ending July 9.

The musical, starring Tony winner Ben Platt and featuring a Tony-winning score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, posted its highest gross ever with $1,725,297, which broke its own record at the Music Box Theatre for a sixth time. That figure is also the highest gross for a Broadway house that seats under 1,000. (The Music Box seats 984 patrons).

Platt, who won a Tony for his wrenching performance in the title role, takes a vacation from the musical July 11–16.

Other productions surpassing the million-dollar mark included Aladdin, Anastasia, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Come From Away, Kinky Boots, School of Rock, The Book of Mormon, The Phantom of the Opera, and Wicked. Grossing over $2 million was the long-running Disney hit, The Lion King. Hamilton once again took the top spot, taking in $3,061,008.

Two-time Tony winner Donna Murphy concluded her two-week stint as Dolly Gallagher Levi, filling in for the vacationing Bette Midler, who returns to Hello, Dolly! this week. With Broadway favorite Murphy in the title role, the production took in $722,574.

While Murphy may not prove to be as big a box office draw as Midler, a recent slew of good notices very well could boost the numbers for her subsequent Tuesday evening performances. (With Midler, the Tony-winning revival had been earning about $2 million a week.)
