The two-part play grossed 110.9 perfect of its potential in six performances during the week ending March 25, grossing a total of $1,541,957. This puts the show in position to surpass $2 million once playing full eight-show weeks.
Of the nearly 10,000 seats sold over the six performances, 1,800 (300 per performance) were priced at $40 or less, with half of those at $20. The production's accessible price initiatives include the "Friday Forty" lottery program, which offers 40 tickets—priced at $20 per part—for every performance.
Three perennial favorites managed to surpass the $2 million benchmark this week: Hamilton ($3,082,529), Springsteen on Broadway ($2,407,110), and The Lion King ($2,071,519).
The show, directed by John Tiffany and penned by Jack Thorne (who both collaborated with original series author J.K. Rowling on the story—the eighth chapter in her beloved series), officially opens April 22.
Meanwhile, the Denzel Washington-led The Iceman Cometh kicked off previews over the weekend on a similar high. The revival grossed $397,717 in two shows—104.9 percent of its potential. Expect the production to join the Millionaire’s Club next week after its next six performances.
