The Public Theater celebrated the opening night of Sea Wall/A Life, a double bill of solo plays by Simon Stephens and Nick Payne, on February 14. The combined production, which stars Tony nominee Tom Sturridge (1984) and Jake Gyllenhaal in their Public Theater debuts, is set to run through March 31.
Sturridge, in his third collaboration with Tony and Olivier Award winner Stephens (Heisenberg, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time),performs Sea Wall, an exploration of love and the human need to know the unknowable. Gyllenhaal continues his collaboration with Olivier Award-nominated playwright Payne (Constellations, If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet) in A Life, an emotional examination of how sons become fathers and the transformative power of love. Both plays are directed by Carrie Cracknell.
