The New York premiere of Loy A. Webb’s The Light opened February 10 after beginning previews January 23. Directed by Logan Vaughn, the MCC production marks the company’s first show in its new 52nd Street home.
The Light stars Drama Desk Award winner McKinley Belcher III (The Royale, The Art of Racing in The Rain) and Mandi Masden (Saint Joan, Jitney). Unfolding in real time, the play introduces us to Rashad and Genesis on what should be one of the happiest days of their lives: a marriage proposal. Their joy quickly unravels when ground-shifting accusations from the past resurface.

The Light was originally developed at The New Colony in Chicago. The New Colony also presented the world premiere at The Den Theatre in January 2018 directed by Tom Langston.
