The American premiere of Six, the new musical about the wives of Henry VIII, celebrated its opening night May 22 at Chicago Shakespeare Theater after beginning preview performances May 14. The musical, written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, arrives in the U.S. after a hit Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut, subsequent U.K. tour, and current West End production.

In Six, the queens of Henry VIII take the mic to reclaim their identities out of the shadow of their infamous spouse—remixing 500 years of historical heartbreak into a celebration of 21st-century girl power.
