Video Get to Know Zach Adkins, Anastasia's New Dmitry The actor dishes on his favorite Broadway shows and why going on last-minute as Dmitry was like “being shot out of a canon.”

This week on Playbill's The Tyler Mount Vlog, Mount chats with Anastasia star Zach Adkins. The actor, who began in the show as an ensemble member as well as the original understudy for Dmitry, succeeded original cast member Derek Klena in the role earlier this spring.

Anastasia marks Adkins' Broadway debut. He has performed in the Kinky Boots national tour, Murder Ballad at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square, Sweeney Todd at Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and Spring Awakening at Beck Arts.

Anastasia, based on the animated film of the same name, features a book by Terrence McNally, a score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics), and direction by Darko Tresnjak. The production opened on Broadway in April 2017. The cast also currently features Christy Altomare as Anya, John Bolton as Vlad, Max von Essen as Gleb, Vicki Lewis as Countess Lily, and Mary Beth Peil as the Dowager Empress.
