George Salazar, Nick Blaemire, and More to Sing The Jonathan Larson Project at Barnes and Noble | Playbill

Cast Recordings & Albums George Salazar, Nick Blaemire, and More to Sing The Jonathan Larson Project at Barnes and Noble The performers celebrate the release of the cast album later this month.

On July 29, performers Nick Blaemire, Lauren Marcus, and George Salazar will sing selections from The Jonathan Larson Project and sign CDs at Barnes and Noble on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

The Jonathan Larson Project first debuted as a concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below. Jennifer Ashley Tepper, who directed and conceived the show, and Charlie Rosen, who provided music supervision, orchestrations, and arrangements, will also participate in the signing event.

The album, which features unheard songs by the Rent creator, comes from Ghostlight Records and is currently available for download and streaming. The limited edition CD package with collectible book will be released July 26; a jewel CD case will hit shelves August 23.

Priority entrance to the concert and signing will be granted to those who purchased The Jonathan Larson Project from the Upper East Side location. Wristbands will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis (with purchase or proof-of-purchase) beginning at 9 AM July 29, ahead of the 7 PM event.

The Jonathan Larson Project showcases songs from Larson’s never-produced work like 1984 and Superbia, cut songs from Rent and tick, tick… BOOM!, songs written for revues and radio, and others that had never been recorded. The accompanying book includes previously unreleased archival materials, original lyrics and sheet music, script pages, notes, and more. Song lyrics of the newly recorded tracks, as well as annotations, are also featured alongside photos from the recording studio and liner notes from Tepper and Be More Chill composer-lyricist Joe Iconis, a past Larson Grant recipient.

The album features vocals by Blaemire, Marcus, Andy Mientus, Krysta Rodriguez, and Salazar, and instrumentals by musical director Natalie Tenenbaum, Charlie Rosen, Cody Owen Stine, Megan Talay, and Marques Walls, with Danielle Gimbal as copyist. The album is produced by Tepper, Rosen, and Kurt Deutsch.
