Pasadena Playhouse has assembled a trio of breakout stage and screen favorites to lead its upcoming production of Little Shop of Horrors, beginning performances September 17.

The Los Angeles-area staging will star George Salazar (Be More Chill, on Broadway through August 11) as Seymour, Mj Rodriguez (Pose, Off-Broadway's Rent) as Audrey, and Olivier Award winner Amber Riley (Dreamgirls, Glee) as Audrey II. Additional casting will be announced later.

Mike Donahue will direct the production, which is set to officially open September 25 and run through October 20. The staging will also feature music direction by Darryl Archibald, accompanist and conductor John Gentry Tennyson, choreography by Will B. Bell, scenic design by Dane Laffrey; costume design by Danae McQueen; lighting design by Josh Epstein; sound design by Veronika Vorel; puppet design, direction and choreography by Sean Cawelti; casting by Telsey + Company/Ryan Tymensky, CSA, and stage management by Jill Gold.

The news arrives hot on the heels of the announcement of a separate Off-Broadway revival beginning the same day as the California engagement. The New York bow will feature Jonathan Groff, Tammy Blanchard, and Christian Borle.

Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman's 1982 musical opens Pasadena Playhouse's 2019–2020 season; the lineup also includes Alfred Molina in Florian Zeller's The Father, Lauren Yee's The Great Leap, and Annie Get Your Gun.
