Tony Award-winning composer, lyricist, conductor, and pianist Jason Robert Brown celebrates his birthday June 20.
Brown won two Tony Awards for 2014’s The Bridges of Madison County (Best Score and Best Orchestrations) and a Tony Award for his Parade score in 1999. His other credits include Songs for a New World, The Last Five Years, 13, Honeymoon in Vegas, and Prince of Broadway.
As previously announced, Brown is set to continue his SubCulture Residency with a concert with Nine-time Tony Award recipient and Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Sondheim at New York City’s Town Hall June 24. Joined by a 16-piece orchestra, the theatrical giants will play alongside each other in an evening of songs from both of their repertoires, featuring new arrangements by Brown of many of Sondheim’s tunes. The evening will also Sondheim and Brown in conversation about each other’s work.
