Benefits and Galas First Stars Announced for July Concert for America in Seattle Kerry Butler and other Broadway names will sing at Fifth Avenue benefit for human rights organizations.

Roger Bart and Kerry Butler, who co-starred in the Broadway musical Disaster!, are among the first names announced for the July edition of the Concert for America: Stand Up, Sing Out! series that is raising money for human rights organizations. The July concert of songs, comedy, and commentary will take place at 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle, Washington, at 7 PM July 6.

Butler originated the role of Penny Pingleton in Hairspray at the 5th and on Broadway.

Sierra Boggess (Broadway’s The Little Mermaid) and Seattle celebrities Naomi Morgan (Mimi in Rent at the 5th), Caety Sagoian (Jasper in Deadland at The 5th), and Spectrum Dance Theater will also be featured in the July installment in the monthly Concerts for America series, created by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley, benefiting The Southern Poverty Law Center, National Immigration Law Center, The Sierra Club Foundation, NAACP, and National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. More celebrities are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Participating performers are subject to change.

For those unable to attend the Seattle Concert for America in person, it will be broadcast via Facebook Live on the Concert for America and 5th Avenue Theatre Facebook pages and at ConcertsforAmerica.com, beginning at 10 PM ET / 7 PM PDT on July 6.

Rudetsky, a Playbill columnist and Sirius/XM radio personality, will host the 7 PM concert, which features songs, comedy, and commentary. Additional performers are expected to come on board in the coming weeks. The series, which originated at Town Hall in Manhattan and has performed editions in Chicago and elsewhere, will give its May 24 concert in Los Angeles, and its June 24 concert in San Francisco.

Butler, Bart, and Rudetsky have been a special guest performers on several Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas cruises.
