Signature Theatre’s production of In the Blood, starring Saycon Sengbloh, is set to open September 17 in the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre. The play, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Suzan-Lori Parks, is part of Parks’ Red Letter Plays, two plays which re-imagine Nathaniel Hawthorne’s classic novel The Scarlet Letter.

Directed by Sarah Benson, In the Blood is scheduled to run through October 8. The play introduces us to Hester La Negrita, a penniless mother of five condemned by the men who love her.
