The New York premiere of Jane Anderson’s Mother of the Maid, starring Tony winner and Oscar nominee Glenn Close, began September 25 ahead of an October 17 opening at the Public Theater.
The production has extended a second time and will now play an additional three weeks through December 23.
Close plays Isabelle Arc, Joan of Arc’s mother, who offers a rarely-seen perspective to the story behind the historical figure. Joining Close in the Off-Broadway production is Dermot Crowley (The Weir) as Jacques Arc, Olivia Gillatt (Pushkin) as Monique, Kate Jennings Grant (Noises Off) as Lady of the Court, Andrew Hovelson (Lucky Guy) as Pierre Arc, Daniel Pearce (Machinal) as Father Gilbert, and Grace Van Patten (The Whirligig) as Joan.
The Matthew Penn-helmed production features sets by John Lee Beatty, costumes by Jane Greenwood, lighting design by Lap Chi Chu, original music by Alexander Sovronsky, and sound design by Joanna Lynne Staub and Alexander Sovronsky.
