Although he may not be in Bikini Bottom, sitting at the top of Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Park with SpongeBob SquarePants' Tony-nominated Ethan Slater, coffee in hand, book tucked snugly under arm, this Monday is certainly making a case for being the best day ever. But then again, for Slater, who has been spending his summer exploring Brooklyn armed with his title character’s signature optimism, every day has the potential to bring a new adventure.

But Brooklyn isn’t just another borough through which to adventure—it’s a place Slater can call home, escaping the energy of Times Square. “There is so much hustle and bustle in Manhattan. Even just the high buildings and the concentration of people, there is so much happening,” Slater says. “It is so nice to have a space away, to get into a different kind of vibe.”
