Los Angeles News Dove Cameron to Join Renée Fleming in Los Angeles Opera’s The Light in the Piazza The two will reprise their performances following a London engagement of the Adam Guettel and Craig Lucas musical.

Dove Cameron, who recently took center stage in Off-Broadway’s Clueless musical, will make her Los Angeles Opera debut in the company’s upcoming presentation of The Light in the Piazza. The stage and screen alum will play Clara Johnson, starring alongside previously announced Tony-nominated opera star Renée Fleming.

Performances will run October 12–20 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion as part of the company’s 2019–2020 season. Additional titles include the world premiere of Sarah Ruhl and Matthew Aucoin’s Eurydice, Roberto Devereux with LA Opera General Director Plácido Domingo, and the West Coast premiere of Du Yun’s Pulitzer-winning Angel’s Bone.

Cameron and Fleming will first sing the roles of Clara and Margaret Johnson, respectively, in the Adam Guettel and Craig Lucas musical at London’s Royal Festival Hall this June. Daniel Evans directs both presentations.

In addition to Clueless, Cameron’s credits include Disney Channel’s Descendants and Liv and Maddie, as well as Hairspray Live! and Dumplin’.

The production will feature sets by Robert Jones, costumes by Brigitte Reinffenstuel, lighting by Mark Henderson, and sound design by Mick Potter. Kimberly Grisby will conduct, having previously served as music director for the musical's 2006 national tour.

Additional casting for the L.A. engagement will be announced at a later date.
