The new movie tells the story of the legendary opera singer Maria Callas—from her perspective.
Maria By Callas, a new film about legendary opera singer Maria Callas (also the subject of Terrence McNally's Tony-winning play Master Class), tells the diva's life entirely via her own words. Director Tom Volf uses performances, TV interviews, home movies, family photographs, private letters, and unpublished memoirs to share her life story from Callas' perspective. Opera star Joyce DiDonata voices the segments that did not have recordings of Callas available.
By exploring historical instruments and techniques to play them, pioneers of the early music revival have opened up new worlds of sound. A new series of concerts kicks off at Weill Recital Hall on December 12.
