Disney has set November 2, 2018, for the release of its previously announced live-action 3D adaptation of its 1998 animated hit, Mulan, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The company is planning to launch a “global casting search” for a Chinese actress to play the title role.

The animated film, Disney's first feature-length film to portray a complete cast of Chinese characters, featured the voices of Broadway's Lea Salonga, Ming-Na Wen, Soon-Teck Oh, B.D. Wong and Harvey Fierstein.

The new film will have a script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Jurassic World) that again retells the legend of Hua Mulan, a female warrior who passes as a male.

Disney’s live-action adaptation of Cinderella racked up huge grosses at the cinema box office; Disney is planning several more live remakes of its animated features, including Beauty and the Beast (due March 17, 2017) and the recently announced The Lion King.
