Academy Award-nominated Chicago and Into the Woods director Rob Marshall is poised to helm Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, according to Deadline.

The film is slated to include songs from the 1989 animated feature written by Oscar winner Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, as well as new material by Menken and award-winning Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Marshall recently wrapped production on Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, in which Miranda stars alongside Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep. The film is due out December 25, 2018. The Little Mermaid marks Miranda's third major project for Disney, following his Oscar-nominated work on the score to the 2016 animated feature Moana.

Miranda will produce alongside Marc Platt.
