Tony winners Rachel Bay Jones and Denis O'Hare are set to star in the pilot for Hulu’s Crash and Burn, according to Deadline. Jones, who currently stars in the hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen, will play one of the central characters—the mother to teenager Steven “Crash” Crashinsky at the heart of the drama.
Crash and Burn, adapted from the best-selling book by Michael Hassan, follows three suburban teenagers involved with a near-shooting at a high school in the mid-1990s.
O’Hare is tapped to play Crash’s father alongside Jones, marking her first television role since Dear Evan Hansen opened on Broadway. The star has not yet announced a departure from the Tony-winning musical (fellow Tony winner Ben Platt is set to depart November 19).
Crash and Burn is adapted by Aaron Zelman. The project is from Sony Pictures TV, and is executive produced by creator-writer Zelman, Michael Dinner, Alan Gasmer, Peter Jaysen and Katie Dimento.
