Cabaret & Concert News Dear Evan Hansen, The Great Comet, and More to Perform at 2017 Stars in the Alley See which Tony-nominated plays and musicals will perform for free in Shubert Alley.

This year’s Stars in the Alley, the Broadway’s League annual free outdoor concert, will take place June 2 at 1 PM in Broadway’s Shubert Alley (west of Seventh Avenue between 44th and 45th Streets). The event will celebrate the end of the 2016–2017 Broadway season and will consist of performances from 21 musicals—new shows and revivals from this season as well as numbers from current long-running productions.

Participating musicals will include the four which have been nominated for the 2017 Best Musical Award: Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, Dear Evan Hansen, Come From Away, and Groundhog Day, along with Aladdin, Anastasia, Bandstand, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, A Bronx Tale, Cats, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Chicago, Kinky Boots, Miss Saigon, On Your Feet!, The Phantom of the Opera, School of Rock, Sunset Boulevard, Waitress, War Paint, and Wicked.

The concert will also feature appearances from the cast of Falsettos, as well as company members from some of this season’s plays, including: Jitney, The Little Foxes, The Play That Goes Wrong, Six Degrees of Separation, and Sweat.

Spectators can expect to see the following Broadway favorites at the event: Come From Away Tony nominee Jenn Colella, The Great Comet composer Dave Malloy, Tony nominee Rachel Bay Jones, Kristolyn Lloyd, and Will Roland of Dear Evan Hansen, Bandstand favorite Laura Osnes, Anastasia star Christy Altomare, Miss Saigon Tony nominee Eva Noblezada and her co-star Alistair Brammer, A Bronx Tale duo Nick Cordero and Athan Sporek, Trista Dollison and Alan H. Green from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Groundhog Day's Barrett Doss and Sean Montgomery, War Paint's featured players John Dossett and Douglas Sills, current Christine in The Phantom of the Opera Ali Ewoldt, Christopher Fitzgerald and Caitlin Houlahan of Waitress, Wicked's Alyssa Fox, Kinky Boots headliner J. Harrsion Ghee, Aladdin's Telly Leung, Chicago favorite Bianca MarroquÍn, On Your Feet! star Ana Villafañe, current Carole King in Beautiful Abby Mueller, Cats' Grizabella Mamie Parris, and Michael Xavier of Sunset Boulevard.

Also participating will be Six Degrees of Separation headliners Corey Hawkins, Allison Janney and John Benjamin Hickey, Jitney Tony nominees John Douglas Thompson and director Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Richard Thomas of The Little Foxes, Ellen Harvey and Tedra Millan of Present Laughter, The Play That Goes Wrong's Charlie Russell and Nancy Zamit, and Sweat Tony nominees Johanna Day and Michelle Wilson.

“We’re counting down to the 71st annual Tony Awards, and this season, Broadway has served up a buffet of fun, entertaining, and magical productions,” commented Charlotte St. Martin, president of the Broadway League in a press statement. “Stars in the Alley welcomes everybody to join in the celebration and enjoy a little bit of all that Broadway has to offer, proving that there really is a show for everyone!”
