Tony Award nominee David Garrison will join the cast of the new John Kander-Greg Pierce musical Kid Victory at Off-Broadway's Vineyard Theatre beginning March 14 for the final week of its run.
Garrison, whose previous stage credits include A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine, Wicked, and Titanic, replaces Daniel Jenkins, who is departing the production to reprise his role in the forthcoming Broadway bow of Oslo.
Liesl Tommy, who helmed the world premiere at Arlington’s Signature Theatre, returned to direct the revised production. Performances began February 1 and will continue through March 19.
Brandon Flynn (Thirteen Reasons Why) stars as 17-year-old Luke, and Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba, a veteran of Kander’s musicals, plays the role of his mother Eileen.
The cast includes Ann Arvia (Mary Poppins), Joel Blum (Steel Pier), Daniel Jenkins, Dee Roscioli (Wicked), Blake Zolfo (The Lightning Thief), Laura Darrell (Frozen Live), and Jeffry Denman (White Christmas).
Kid Victory features a story by Kander and Pierce, music by Kander, and book and lyrics by Pierce.
The production also has choreography by Christopher Windom, scenic design by Tony Award winner Clint Ramos (Eclipsed), costumes by Jacob Climer (Informed Consent), lighting by David Weiner (Vineyard’s This Beautiful City), and sound design by Tony Award nominee Peter Hylenski (After Midnight). David Loud (The Scottsboro Boys) serves as music supervisor, Michael Starobin (Falsettos, Sunday in the Park With George) is the orchestrator, and Jesse Kissel (The Visit) is the music director.
Bryan Batt, Andrea Martin, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Judy Kuhn, Melissa Errico, and Alice Ripley were among the many stars sailing on the Caribbean adventure.
