Ryan Murphy’s latest foray into television musicals, Pose, will premiere on FX June 3.
Set in the 1980s, the series highlights the intersection of LGBTQ ball culture, Trump-era luxury, and the downtown social and literary scene of New York City. As previously announced, the show stars MJ Rodriguez (Rent), Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, Hailie Sahar, Angelica Ross, newcomers Ryan Jamaal Swain and Dyllon Burnside, Tony nominee Charlayne Woodard, and Tony winner Billy Porter.
The series marks the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles for a scripted series, as well as the largest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors.
Evan Peters, Kate Mara, and James Van Der Beek are also among the ensemble cast.
The dance musical television series comes from creators Murphy and Brad Falchuk (Glee), and Steve Canals; the trio executive produces alongside Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Sherry Marsh. Murphy directs the premiere as well as the second episode of the eight-episode series.
