Dana Delaney appeared on LIVE With Kelly & Ryan August 7 to discuss her upcoming Off-Broadway turn in Jen Silverman’s Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties, bowing at MCC Theater's Lucille Lortel August 16. The play follows five women—each named Betty—and their different stories.

“It's about change. These people are ready to change their lives,” said Delaney in the video above. “We tend to box ourselves in. We think ‘I'm this, this is who I am.’ We have the choice to be someone else.

“There are five women we're all called Betty, I’m Betty #1,” she continued. “I'm the Upper East Side rich, unhappy Betty who drinks a lot. I see why I'm cast as Betty #1, but it would be fun to be Betty #5 who boxes and works on a truck. That would be fun, too.”

The play, the full title of which is Collective Rage: A Play In 5 Betties; In Essence, A Queer And Occasionally Hazardous Exploration; Do You Remember When You Were In Middle School And You Read About Shackleton And How He Explored The Antarctic? Imagine The Antarctic As A Pussy And It’s Sort Of Like That, will officially open September 12. The cast also includes Lea DeLaria (Orange Is the New Black), Ana Villafañe (On Your Feet!), Adina Verson (Indecent), and Chaunté Wayans (Fifty Shades of Black).
