Roundabout Theatre Company welcomes writer-director Cristina Angeles as the organization's new directing fellow. She joins Whitney White, Miranda Haymon and Kathleen Capdesuner as the fourth director in the program, spearheaded by Tony winner Sam Gold and launched in 2017 to create a long-term, meaningful relationship between Roundabout and a young director.

In addition to having worked at New York Theatre Workshop, The Public Theater, and Williamstown Theatre Festival, Angeles is the founding artistic director of Checkmark Theatre Company, an NYC-based company dedicated to underrepresented artists and the telling of their stories. Checkmark most recently produced Eliana Pipes’ DREAM HOU$E at Ars Nova, directed by Angeles.

This season she will assist on Roundabout's Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, work with the theatre's artistic team as a script reader, and use RTC's resources to develop her own projects.

Angeles is a Latina theatremaker whose mission is to create empathy and conversation by directing new plays and musicals, as well as socially conscious adaptations of classics that place women of color at the forefront. She holds a BA in Theatre from Barnard College at Columbia University. Learn more about her at CristinaAngeles.com.
