The complete creative team has been announced for the London premiere of the new musical The Prince of Egypt, based on the 1998 DreamWorks animated film that features a score by Wicked and Pippin composer-lyricist Stephen Schwartz.
As previously reported, Scott Schwartz will direct the London premiere, which will begin previews February 5, 2020, at the Dominion Theatre ahead of a February 25 opening night. Choreography is by Sean Cheesman.
The creative team will also include set designer Kevin Depinet, Tony-winning costume designer Ann Hould-Ward, lighting designer Mike Billings, Olivier Award-winning sound designer Gareth Owen, Olivier Award-winning projection designer Jon Driscoll, and illusion designer Chris Fisher. Orchestrations are by Olivier winner August Eriksmoen with musical supervision and arrangements by Dominick Amendum. Dave Rose is musical director. Casting is by Jim Arnold CDG.
Casting is to be announced. A private reading of the musical took place in London earlier this year.
The musical features several of the songs Schwartz penned for the movie (including the Oscar-winning “When You Believe”), as well as new numbers written for the stage adaptation. Writing the book is original screenwriter Philip LaZebnik.
