Video Come From Away Fans From Around the World Celebrate the Musical’s First Year on Broadway From the U.S. to Canada to Japan, fans have lent their voices for this group performance of “Welcome to the Rock.”

Come From Away has enlisted the help of its global fans to commemorate the first anniversary of the musical opening on Broadway. Take a look at the video above as people from the U.S., Canada, Japan, and beyond form a digital ensemble to sing the show’s opening number, “Welcome to the Rock.”

The musical, which explores the bonds formed when a small Canadian community hosted thousands of stranded passengers in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks, opened at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre March 12, 2017, before going on to win the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical and a Tony for director Christopher Ashley.
In addition to the Broadway engagement, Irene Sankoff and David Hein’s musical currently plays Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre. A national tour will launch at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle in October.
