The long-running Carole King heads back to the musical January 3 as it celebrates five years on Broadway.
Chilina Kennedy, who has taken on the role of music legend Carole King for over a thousand performances of Beautiful in New York and Toronto, returns to the Broadway bio-musical beginning January 3.
Kennedy takes over for current star Abby Mueller (sister of the musical’s Tony-winning original lead, Jessie Mueller), who took her final bow December 30. During Kennedy’s return engagement, the musical will celebrate its fifth anniversary on Broadway (January 12).
In addition to Beautiful, Kennedy has appeared on Broadway in the 2012 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar. The Canada native's additional credits include the national tour of Mamma Mia! and Off-Broadway's recent This Ain't No Disco.
The current cast also includes Evan Todd as Gerry Goffin, Kate Reinders as Cynthia Weil, Ben Jacoby as Barry Mann, Paul Anthony Stewart as Don Kirshner, and Tony nominee Liz Larsen as Genie Klein.
