Chicago’s Goodman Theatre has announced casting for its run of the Young Vic production of A View from the Bridge. The Broadway staging was nominated for five 2016 Tony Awards, taking home Best Revival and Best Direction of a Play to director Ivo van Hove.
Returning from the Los Angeles run at the Ahmanson Theatre last fall are Andrus Nichols as Beatrice and Catherine Combs as Catherine. Joining them are Ian Bedford as Eddie Carbone, Ezra Knight as Alfieri, Daniel Abeles as Rodolpho, Ronald Connor as Louis, Brandon Espinoza as Marco, and James D. Farruggio as Officer.
The Goodman production will run September 9–October 15 in the Albert Theatre with direction by Hove.
Arthur Miller’s A View From the Bridge tells the story of Brooklyn laborer and family man Eddie Carbone, whose possessive love of his niece prompts the destruction of his world and ideals. The Young Vic production of Miller’s classic was first presented at the London theatre in 2014, then transferred to the West End in 2015 and was awarded three Olivier Awards (Best Actor, Best Revival and Best Director).
The Chicago run will feature set and lights by Jan Versweyveld, costumes by An D’Huys, and sound by Tom Gibbons. Jeff James is the associate director.
