Film & TV News Cheyenne Jackson Joins Descendants 3 as Hades The stage and screen actor will play the ruler of the Underworld in the third installment of the Disney TV special.

Broadway actor Cheyenne Jackson has joined the cast of Disney Channel's Descendants 3. Jackson will play Hades, the ruler of the Underworld from Disney's 1997 animated feature Hercules.

Descendants 3, set for release in 2019, will be the third movie in the network's TV film series. Set in the United States of Auradon, ruled by Belle and Beast 20 years after they marry, Descendants follows the adventures of the next generation of Disney characters: the children of Beast and Belle, Aurora and Fairy Godmother, alongside the children of Maleficent, Jafar, and Cruella de Vil, among the other offspring of infamous Disney villains.

Rounding out the cast of Descendants 3 will be returning players Dove Cameron as Mal, Cameron Boyce as Carlos, Sofia Carson as Evie, Booboo Stewart as Jay, Thomas Doherty as Harry, China Anne McClain as Uma, Dylan Playfair as Gil, Anna Cathcart as Dizzy, Mitchel Hope as King Ben, Sarah Jeffrey as Audrey, Jedidiah Goodacre as Chad, Zachary Gibson as Doug, Brenna D’Amico as Jane, Judith Maxie as Queen Leah, Dan Payne as Beast, Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother, and Keegan Connor Tracy as Belle.

Jackson was last seen on Broadway in The Performers. His other credits include Finian’s Rainbow, Xanadu, All Shook Up, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Aida. On TV, he is a regular on American Horror Story and will be seen in the upcoming American Woman alongside Alicia Silverstone and Mena Suvari.
