MCC Theater has released new portraits of the cast and playwright of The Light, currently in performances at the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space. The New York premiere opened February 10 after beginning previews January 23. Directed by Logan Vaughn, the MCC production marks the company’s first show in its new 52nd Street home.
The Light stars Drama Desk Award winner McKinley Belcher III (The Royale, The Art of Racing in The Rain) and Mandi Masden (Saint Joan, Jitney). Unfolding in real time, the play introduces us to Rashad and Genesis on what should be one of the happiest days of their lives: a marriage proposal. Their joy quickly unravels when ground-shifting accusations from the past resurface.
