Signature Theatre will present the D.C. premiere of Annie Baker’s John, directed by Signature Theatre Director of New Work Joe Calarco, April 3–29 in the MAX Theatre.
The production will star Nancy Robinette (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Signature's Walter Cronkite Is Dead) as Mertis and Ilona Dulaski (Signature’s Silver Belles) as Genevieve with Signature Theatre newcomers Jonathan Feuer (Shakespeare Theatre’s As You Like It) as Elias and Anna Moon (ABC’s Castle) as Jenny.
In the play, Elias and Jenny, a young Brooklyn couple, escape to a bed-and-breakfast in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. However, under the watchful eye of the cheery innkeeper, a ghost seems to haunt their crumbling relationship.
“The Flick was one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had directing a play, so doing Annie Baker’s next major work was a no-brainer for me,” said Calarco. “It’s a hilarious, exquisitely beautiful play, and it also gives me the chance to work with Nancy Robinette again. She was born to be in this play.”
