Directed by James Esposito, the limited engagement will have musical direction by Daniel Yokomizo and choreography by Michael Marchak.
The cast will feature Cesar Cipriano, Peter Jeensalute, Daniel Koh, Daryl Leonardo, Marcel Licera, Gibran Mahmud, Kevin Matsumoto, John Sala, Rueben Uy, Julia May Wong, and Paul Wong.
Pacific Overtures, which opened on Broadway in 1976, is set in 1853 and follows the difficult Westernization of Japan, told from the point of view of the Japanese. In particular, the story focuses on the lives of two friends caught in the change. With music and lyrics by Sondheim and book by Weidman, the musical has additional material by Hugh Wheeler.
This production will also have scenic design by Hector Figueroa, lighting design by Jesse Baldridge, and costume design by Kara McLeod. The stage manager is Veronica Vasquez.
