Education News Camp Broadway Launches Auditions for Macy’s Parade Performance, Featuring Children of Military Families The performance will mark the 10th appearance at the parade by the theatre education and outreach organization.

Camp Broadway will offer 125 children ages 9–16 from military families to perform in their Kids Ensemble during the 2017 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Auditions for a spot in the performance are now open via online submission.

The November 23 performance at the annual New York event will feature the Irvin Berlin number “This Is a Great Country,” with a cast of young family members of military personnel.

Founded in 1995, Camp Broadway offers year-round programs and workshops rooted in theatre education, with the goal of instilling confidence and presentation skills in young students. This will mark Camp Broadway’s tenth appearance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The announcement of the upcoming performance and audition process was made July 25 at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.

Participants must be aged 9–16 and represent an immediate (parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and in-laws, as well as adopted, half, and step) family members who classify as either active duty military personnel, reservist, veteran, wounded warrior or fallen hero from any branch of the United States Armed Forces who served after 1955.

Those auditioning must submit a one-minute audition video including a vocal selection and dance routine. For more information, visit CampBroadway.com.
