Songwriters Will Van Dyke and Jeff Talbott released their new single “Take Me to the Party,” sung by Broadway favorite Wasley Taylor, January 4. The SpongeBob SquarePants alum sang the song during the duo’s recent concert at Feintsein’s/54 Below, Crazy Rainbow Days: New Songs by Will Van Dyke & Jeff Talbott, and reprises his performance on the new track.

The actor starred on Broadway in Rock of Ages (Outer Critics Circle Award nomination), originated the role of Plankton in the aforementioned SpongeBob SquarePants musical, as well as Lucas Beineke in The Addams Family. He was also part of the cast of NBC’s Smash and is currently in rehearsal for Alice by Heart, a new musical with music by Duncan Sheik that begins January 30 at Off-Broadway's MCC Theater.

The recording also features Van Dyke (piano/keyboards), Steve Gilewski (bass), Mason Ingram (drums), Alec Berlin (guitar), Jocelin Pan (violin/viola) and Allison Seidner (cello), with string arrangements by Patrick Sulken. The track was mixed by Derik Lee, engineered by Ian Kagey, and mastered by Oscar Zambrano.

Van Dyke and Talbott are the writing team behind Imagine Harry, featured in the National Alliance of Musical Theatre Festival of New Musicals in 2015, Wintersong, a finalist for the National Alliance of Musical Theatre Festival of New Musicals in 2017, Seven Broken Hearts, and The Circle and the Wheel. Van Dyke currently conducts Pretty Woman: The Musical on Broadway, having provided arrangements and musical supervision for the show.
