Obituaries Broadway Community Remembers Galt MacDermot's Life and Work The theatre community took to social media to share their memories of the composer of Hair and Two Gentlemen of Verona.

Broadway veteran and Grammy-winning composer Galt MacDermot died at the age of 89 on December 17, a day shy of his 90th birthday. Mr. MacDermot was best-known for creating the Tony-winning musical Hair alongside with James Rado and Gerome Ragni.

After the success of the "American Tribal Love-Rock Musical," Mr. MacDermot went on to score the Tony-winning musical adaptation of Shakespeare's Two Gentlemen of Verona, for which he earned a Drama Desk Award. He also lent his considerable musical talent to a number of other musicals, including Isabel's a Jezebel , Dude, and The Human Comedy.
