Director Steven Spielberg and writer Tony Kushner have enlisted two more stage alums to appear in their upcoming film adaptation of West Side Story. Tony nominee Brian d'Arcy James, currently on Broadway in The Ferryman, will play Sergeant Krupke (of "Gee, Officer Krupke" fame), while Corey Stoll, last on Broadway in the 2010 revival of A View From the Bridge, will play Lieutenant Schrank.

The two are the latest additions to the cast, following the previously announced Ansel Elgort as Tony, Rachel Zegler as Maria, Tony nominee Ariana DeBose as Anita, David Alvarez as Bernardo, Josh Andrés Rivera as Chino, and EGOT winner and West Side Story veteran Rita Moreno as Valentina (a new take on the musical's Doc).

D'Arcy James earned Tony nods for his work in Something Rotten!, Shrek, and Sweet Smell of Success. His additional stage credits include Hamilton, Next to Normal, and Time Stands Still. On screen, he's appeared in Spotlight, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and The Kitchen, as well as Netflix's 13 Reasons Why. Stoll can frequently be seen on the New York stage in the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park presentations, including Othello, Julius Caesar, and Troilus and Cressida. He recently starred on screen as Buzz Aldrin in First Man and as Boris in Michael Mayer's adaptation of The Seagull.

The Twentieth Century Fox project, which will feature choreography by Justin Peck, is expected to begin filming this summer.

In addition to the big screen, the Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, and Arthur Laurents musical is also slated to return to Broadway, with Ivo van Hove at the helm. Opening night for the revival is currently set for February 6, 2020.
