Tony Award-winning Broadway star Billy Porter grabbed the No. 2 spot on the iTunes R&B chart on the first day of release for his new album Billy Porter Presents The Soul of Richard Rodgers.

The album, which features his duets on classic showtunes with the likes of fellow Tony Award winners Leslie Odom Jr. and Cynthia Erivo, was ranked No. 40 on the iTunes album chart overall.

Pop stars India.arie, Ledisi and the Pentatonix are also highlighted on the Sony Masterworks Broadway album, whose official release date was April 14. The album features new, soulful takes on classic Richard Rodgers songs from Broadway musicals including Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, Babes in Arms, South Pacific, and The King and I, with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and Lorenz Hart.

Porter is scheduled for a CD signing April 17 at the Barnes and Noble bookstore at 150 East 86th Street in Manhattan. He will perform a selection of songs from the album including a duet on Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Carefully Taught” with India.Arie.
