Tony Award-winning Broadway star Betty Buckley is planning a series of concerts in New York, New Jersey, and California, two of them highlighting her forthcoming new album, Story Songs.

The actor, who originated the role of Grizabella in Cats and Martha Jefferson in 1776, and who is featured in M. Night Shayamalan’s current hit film Split, is scheduled to release Story Songs on the Palmetto Records label April 7. The two-disc live album is based on the show of the same title that she performed at Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater in New York in September 2016.

Buckley, who also originated the title role in The Mystery of Edwin Drood and replaced Glenn Close during the original run of Sunset Boulevard, will showcase her Story Songs concert at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, New Jersey, on March 9, and repeat it at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey on March 10.

Buckley will be joined at her Story Songs concerts by Grammy nominated jazz pianist Christian Jacob, her longtime musical director and arranger. Their playlist includes works by rock group Radiohead, stage titans Stephen Schwartz and Jason Robert Brown, and budding theatre composers including Joe Iconis.

Buckley’s performance calendar also includes concert appearances at the Livermore Performing Arts Center in Livermore, California, on March 3 and the Vineyard Theater Gala in New York City on March 13.

In addition, she will be one of the celebrities performing at the Roundabout Theater Gala in Manhattan on February 27, and is scheduled to teach a five-day Intensive Song Interpretation/Monologue Workshop at New York’s T. Schreiber Studio March 12-17.
