Forbes has named Tony Award-winning Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt among its 30 Under 30 Hollywood & Entertainment Class of 2018, highlighting young breakout artists who are influencing the cultural conversation this year.

The 24-year-old actor won the Tony Award in June for his compelling performance as a high school outsider desperately searching for connection in Dear Evan Hansen, the Tony-winning hit by Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, and Steven Levenson.

The musical has become a touchstone for an entire generation of young people who have come of age in the era of social media.

Platt is set to play his final performance in the Broadway production November 19. He has signed with Atlantic Records to record his solo debut album.

The list was determined by four 30 Under 30 alumni, including Crazy Ex-Girlfriend creator and star Rachel Bloom, Valhalla Entertainment CEO Anne Hurd, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, and director, writer, and producer Mira Nair.
