McDonald will return to Broadway this May in a revival of Terrence McNally's Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, opposite Michael Shannon. She last appeared on Broadway in 2016’s Shuffle Along. Prior to that production, McDonald won a Tony for her performance as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar & Grill. She also won Tony Awards for her work in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, A Raisin in the Sun, Ragtime, Master Class, and Carousel. McDonald has also starred in 110 in the Shade, Henry IV, Marie Christine, and The Secret Garden. She currently stars on the CBS All Access series The Good Fight alongside two-time Tony winner Christine Baranski.

Swenson, currently starring Off-Broadway in the new play Nantucket Sleigh Ride, returns to Playbill Travel having previously traveled on the Rhine River cruise. He has starred in Broadway’s Waitress, Disaster!, Les Misérables, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Hair (for which he earned a Tony nomination), 110 in the Shade, Lestat, and Brooklyn.

Mendez, who traveled with Playbill on Broadway on the High Seas 7: Italy, returns after winning a Tony Award for her performance in last season’s revival of Carousel. She has also starred in Broadway’s Significant Other, Godspell, Everyday Rapture, Grease, and Wicked.

Finally, Creel marks another new addition to the Playbill Travel family. The actor earned his first Tony nomination in 2002 for his Broadway debut in Thoroughly Modern Millie opposite Sutton Foster. He starred in the 2004 revival of La Cage Aux Folles and the 2009 revival of Hair—alongside Swenson—for which he earned a Tony nomination. He replaced in the lead role of Elder Price in Broadway’s The Book of Mormon and then starred in the 2016 revival of She Loves Me. In 2017, Creel won the Tony Award (his third nomination) for his work as Cornelius Hackl in Hello, Dolly!. Earlier this year he starred opposite Sara Bareilles in her musical Waitress for a limited engagement.

The stars—including some still to be announced!—will regale guests with nightly solo shows, and share stories from their years on the stage.

The Silver Shadow will be newly renovated for the 2020 cruising season. The week-long cruise will travel across the picturesque coasts of Italy, Spain, and Malta, making stops in the ports of Civitavecchia, Barcelona, and more. Passengers will be provided with a widespread variety of complimentary beverages (including select wines and spirits), as well as delectable food offerings.
